Whitewater Rafting

Chiang Mai, Thailand

The next activity on our day trip to Mae Taeng was 10 kilometers of whitewater rafting down the Mae Taeng River. There was only one other couple on the tour, but the rafts were small so we each had our own. It’s always nice to just float down a river enjoying the scenery as well as getting that adrenaline rush as you go through some rapids. The rapids weren’t as crazy as the last time we went rafting on the Zambezi River near Victoria Falls, which is ranked as one of the best rafting spots in the world, but they were still a lot of fun nonetheless. While we did get stuck on a rock in one of the rapids and also completely flooded the raft in another, we didn’t fall out. We’ve never actually fallen out of a raft yet, and now that I say that, I’m sure we’ll do it the next time we go. The other couple did fall out of their raft so the rapids were big enough to do some damage. During the trip, we passed a lot of locals enjoying the refreshing water and our guide splashing them, and we also saw a couple of elephants, but sadly, they didn’t look like they were treated too well. All in all, it was a great day and it was good to get back in the water after what seemed like a never-ending tour of temples. Don’t worry though, we have plenty more temples coming up if that’s your thing. But, we’ll also have a ton more scuba diving and other water activities as we make our way to Thailand’s island destinations. Thailand pretty much has it all.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
