Blue Butterfly Cooking Class

Hanoi, Vietnam

Our time in Vietnam was coming to a close and one of the last things that we did was take a cooking class in Hanoi. Since we have very specific dietary needs, Therese is a vegetarian and I’m just a picky eater, they suggested that we take a private cooking class since we probably wouldn’t have eaten most of the food they prepare in the group class.

After we met our chef at the restaurant, we took a rickshaw to the market to buy some ingredients needed for our meal. Back at the restaurant, we helped cook some Hanoi pho (Therese was also surprised with a vegetarian version at dinner), two types of spring rolls – vegetarian spring rolls for Therese and pork for me, green mango salad, eggplant with ginger sauce, and bun cha – so yummy!! We didn’t do all of the cooking and we didn’t eat all of the food that we made (hopefully they gave it to the staff), but it was still a fun time.

We had a great experience and were very happy to take home recipes for amazing Vietnamese cuisine!
