Kup Kap Waterfall

Chiang Mai, Thailand

After a short stay in Bangkok, we made our way up to Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand. It’s consistently at the top of most digital nomad lists and we can see why. But, there’s so much more to the area than just hanging out in the Old City, and the first thing we did there was to drive a couple of hours north to go hiking and rafting in Mae Taeng with 8Adventures.

We started the day with a short hike, less than an hour each way, to a beautiful waterfall, and our guide pointed our flora and fauna along the way. The hike was really easy, but it did have some water crossings so you just need to watch yourself on the slippery rocks and some narrow ledges along the bank. It’s best to wear water shoes, but I’m sure most people just wear flip-flops and do just fine. The pool at the bottom of the waterfall was very refreshing in the heat. The water was shallow so you could easily walk right up to the waterfall and stand under the rushing water.

I also found out that I’m pretty good with a slingshot. They had a plastic bottle hanging from a tree across the stream and I hit it twice! The only other person to hit it was the local that taught everyone how to do it.
