Tu Duc Tomb

Hue, Vietnam

Our last tomb in Hue was Tu Duc Tomb. Tu Duc was the fourth emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty and had the longest reign from 1848 to 1883. Like the other emperors, he was buried in a secret location and the 200 laborers who helped bury him were all beheaded to help keep the secret. Even today, the location is unknown.

Unfortunately, there was a lot of renovation going on there and we didn’t get to see the actual tomb because it was one of the structures undergoing renovation. Our favorite part was the Hue Singing performance where women played traditional Vietnamese instruments at the Xung Khiem Ta Pavilion.
