Minh Mang Tomb

Hue, Vietnam

Our third UNESCO World Heritage site in Vietnam was the various monuments in the city of Hue. The first stop of our day tour around the city was Minh Mang Tomb. Minh Mang was the second emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty and reigned from 1820 until his death in 1841.

We got there right when it opened and had the whole place to ourselves for most of the time. It is a peaceful place, until the tourist buses come, with approximately 40 structures surrounded by ponds and gardens on the bank of the Perfume River. His tomb is only opened once a year on the anniversary of his death, but unfortunately, we were a few months too late for that.
