The most famous beach on Phuket is Patong Beach and you’ll probably either love it or hate it. During the day we enjoyed hanging out on the beach, and even though it was a lot more crowded than Kata Beach, it was not nearly as crowded as beaches that we visited in Bali or India. Parasailing is really big there and I’m curious as to how many accidents happen because they pretty much land on the beach wherever they want to.
After the sun goes down, the place to party is on Bangla Road. These types of places are really not our scene, but it’s still fun to walk around for a bit to soak in the atmosphere. Just be ready to be asked numerous times if you want to see a ping pong or other type of seedy show.
Not far from Patong Beach is the Simon Cabaret. Thailand has a lot of ladyboys and this show is one of the best. It’s like a Las Vegas show with high production value and you’ll probably recognize the majority of the songs. Therese’s favorite act was “Beyonce” performing “Single Ladies”. You’re not allowed to take photos at the show unless you want to pay a hefty fine, but they do line up outside after the show for photos.
