Wat Pho

Bangkok, Thailand

The Temple of the Reclining Buddha, or Wat Pho, is a short walk from the Grand Palace and is the oldest and largest temple in Bangkok. It’s actually older than Bangkok itself! The main attraction is a reclining Buddha that measures 46 meters long and 15 meters tall and is covered in gold leaf. Interestingly, a reclining Buddha indicates that Buddha has gained enlightenment and is about to enter Nirvana. It’s the biggest reclining Buddha we’ve ever seen, and it was very impressive! But, it was a little hard to take good photos because the Buddha is surrounded by several columns that support the building, plus there were tons of people there as well. The Buddha is not the only attraction there, so be sure to walk around the complex. If that wasn’t enough, Wat Pho is also known as the birthplace of Thai massage and you can even get a massage there or take a course.
