On our last day in the Philippines, we went on a hike to Taal Volcano outside of Manila. We got to see the world’s largest volcano within a lake (Crater Lake) that is situated on an island (Taal Island) located in a lake (Lake Taal) within an island (the Philippines) within the ocean. After the hike, we finally got to eat kamayan style where all the food is spread out over banana leaves and you eat everything with your hands. Thankfully they didn’t have balut, which is basically a developing duck embryo that is boiled and eaten from the shell. We heard that 16-day balut eggs were best.
